6 Lessons from my first 60 Days
This week marks 60 days since the launch of Life & Legacy Properties (following almost 10 years with my previous company), a new venture I never would imagined, but one that has been exciting and fulfilling.
1. “You got this.”
This was the entirety of one of the first texts I received when the word went out I was not longer with my previous team. No questions. No advice. Just support. I made a note-to-self to offer the same to others.
2. 0-1 is harder than 1-2.
It takes courage to start something from zero and put it out there into the world. But once it’s out there, the second step is easier than the first, and the third is easier than the second.
3. No excuses.
This is my full-time job. I’m up at 4:55 AM and out the door at 5:15. I’m home from the gym by 6:30. I drop the boys off at school at 8:00. I’m working by 8:30. This is the hardest real estate market since the 1980's. For clients to find success, I need to be at the top of my game.
4. Every day a little better.
Starting over after almost 10 years left me blowing the dust off of my “how to get started in real estate” notes. Every day I’m focusing on making every part of this business a little better. I’m making better videos. I’m learning more data. I’m creating better systems. I’m mastering the market. All to ensure every client gets the 5-star experience they rightfully expect.
5. My kids don’t care.
By that, I mean they don’t really know what I do or the difference between a good day and bad day. They want me to be available for tackle time, to watch football, and to give them a foot massage and tell them a story at bedtime. My work is to help create the opportunity for more of that, not less.
6. Have fun.
I’m not a disgruntled rental car company employee. I love this industry. I love helping people. What a joy to be able to do what I do. Work hard and enjoy the ride!
